Long Term Agreement - RFP No. UNFPA/USA/14/008 SUPPLY OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICE

Through its field offices, UNFPA provides support to 119 developing and transitional countries and territories: 42 in sub-Saharan Africa, 35 in Arab States, Europe and Central Asia, 19 in Latin America and the Caribbean, and 23 in Asia and the Pacific.

The regionalization of the geographic divisions increases the criticality of effective communications between the regional offices, HQ, and the country offices they support. Furthermore, in lieu of travel, Senior Management strongly encourages staff to use alternate means of communications whenever possible as a cost and time saving measure.

In an effort to facilitate cost effective, quality communications between UNFPA headquarters and its 10 regional and sub-regional offices, UNFPA extended its communications system to incorporate Internet protocol driven telephony and video network. The solution interoperates effectively with the telecommunications infrastructure at headquarters and leverage field offices public Internet and local PSTN connectivity to provide redundancy and reasonable voice quality.
