Description
* Background
Since its establishment in 2005, the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) has worked to explore the root causes of polarisation within and between societies and recommend a programme of action to address the issue including building bridges of understanding through the promotion of intercultural and interreligious dialogue. The initiative was co-sponsored by the former Prime Minister of Spain Jose Luis Zapatero and the then Prime Minister, currently the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks in New York and the chain of terrorist attacks that followed in Bali, Madrid, London and İstanbul, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan launched the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) in 2005 at the recommendation of, and with support from, the Governments of Spain and Turkey.
In 2006, a High-Level Group appointed by the Secretary-General produced a report that included a description of the key elements of the mandate foreseen for UNAOC. UNAOC is a crucial soft power political tool for preventive diplomacy, which works to support the conflict prevention and conflict resolution agenda of the United Nations. During its more than fourteen years of existence, UNAOC has pioneered a range of approaches and activities across its four priority areas namely, Youth, Education, Media and Migration.
* Objective
UNAOC is looking for a service provider with experience working with New York based journalists to provide communications support to promote its media portfolio.

New clarification added: Dear UNOPS: Our company, a certified women- and minority-owned enterprise, is eager to submit a proposal to promote UNAOC’s media portfolio, and we’d appreciate clarification on the following items:1. Is a Joint Venture application allowed as with other types of bids within UNGM?2. The schedule of requirements establishes a delivery deadline of 31 Dec 2024. Considering RFQs are due by November 11 and that holidays start soon after, including for media colleagues, is the 31 Dec 2024 deadline correct? 3. Ten press briefings in the lapse of a few weeks seems very tight risking diminishing returns in each briefing. Please do confirm if the deadline is 31 Dec 2024. 4. For the 10 press briefings, does UNAOC already have key, newsworthy messages to convene press briefings or will the contractor develop such messages?5. Will UNAOC make available a high-level spokesperson for each one of the 10 press briefings?6. The table listing the Scope of Services, in the column titled “UNOPS requirements” asks for “10 press releases…” yet the column titled “Quantity” indicates “20 press releases”. How many press releases are required?7. What is the timeline to deliver the press releases?8. The Scope of Services indicates that “The date [of the event] will be shared with the awarded bidder three (3) weeks before the event”. Best practice and our own experience indicate that the success of an event depends on proper preparation and no less than 12 weeks are needed to ensure flawless planning and execution. Involving a celebrity requires even a longer prep time as their agendas are usually booked with years in advance. Would it be possible for this date to be shared with the successful bidder at least 12 weeks prior to the event?Answer, Dear Ana,Thank you for showing interest in our tender. Please find below the answers to your questions:Partial quotations are not allowed in this case. Bidders must quote prices for the total goods and/or services for the total requirement requested. Evaluation will be done for the total requirement.The deadline is correct: 31 Dec 2024The deadline is correct: 31 Dec 2024UNAOC already have key, newsworthy messagesUNAOC will make available a high-level spokesperson 10 press releases are requested, sorry for the oversight Also 31 Dec 2024Unfortunately, this will not be possible due to the tight deadline of 31 Dec 24Regards,UNOPS-Procurement
