The resulting contract(s) will be on a non-exclusive, as-and-when required basis and will be for an initial period of three (3) years with option to extend at the UN's discretion for two (2) additional periods of one (1) year each. After-sales service support shall be provided by the contractor(s) for the entire life-cycle of the earth moving equipment, estimated to be fifteen (15) years, irrespective of any future changes to equipment supplier(s). 3. It is the United Nations preference to contract directly with equipment manufacturers. However, should the manufacturer appoint an authorized distributor to respond to the upcoming bidding exercise and to enter into a contract with the UN, any resulting contract must be co-signed by the manufacturer jointly with the authorized distributor, hence guaranteeing the selected distributor’s performance of the contract. 5. Similarly, should a distributor who is not a manufacturer want to participate in the upcoming bidding exercise, such distributor must provide evidence that the manufacturer agrees to jointly co-sign any resulting contract(s). 6. Any Engineering Equipment manufacturer not participating directly in the upcoming bidding exercise may nominate only one distributor to perform any resulting contract. 7. During the upcoming bidding exercise an authorized distributor must provide an endorsement letter from the manufacturer that: (a) states that the manufacturer accepts to co-sign a contract, in case of award to their nominated distributor, and (b) indicates the type of the Engineering Equipment a nominated distributor is authorized to offer and supply. 8. Such endorsement must be provided by the manufacturer on its letterhead, must have the address and contact details of the manufacturer, and must be signed by an authorized representative of the manufacturer. 9. Detailed technical specifications, estimated quantities, and support requirements will be provided to the EOI respondents in the solicitation document. Responding to this Request for Expression of Interest: 1.
