Vision products and accessories for UNICEF and WHO programmes and partners
2.2 billion people around the globe suffer from a vision impairment or blindness, this is an area which UNICEF has committed to do as part of the AT2030 programme. In collaboration with WHO, UNICEF will add different assistive technology product ranges into our global supply catalogue, in this case for vision products. The goal of this project is to increase availability and affordability to optimal vision products and services in low- and middle-income countries.
UNICEF and WHO are requesting Expressions of Interest from eligible suppliers in preparation for a solicitation exercise for vision products. The aim of the solicitation exercise is to establish Long Term Arrangements (LTAs) with relevant, qualified suppliers for delivery of vision products and accessories for UNICEF and WHO programmes and partners including governments and other UN agencies over the coming years.
The products identified fall under the following categories:
Category 1: Eye and vision screening
Category 2: Comprehensive eye examination – Refractive services
Category 3: Spectacles and optical low vision aids
Category 4: Blindness
This REoI is addressed to manufacturers of products of these categories as well as wholesalers with experience in the sourcing and supply of vision products.
UNICEF and WHO are particularly interested in identifying competitive suppliers that can offer all items within 1 category, or within several selected categories, or possibly, the full range (all 4 categories).
