The United Nations is planning to invite competitive proposals with the aim of entering into a long term contract for the supply of solar water pumps in support of The United Nations Peacekeeping Missions as follows: - Supply and deliver solar pumps within pump categories: a. Solar Surface Water Pump (Horizontal or Vertical) complete with control panel, connections, cables and all accessories; and b. Description of requirement: - United Nations’ peacekeeping missions around the world utilize a wide range of pumps for the abstraction, transfer, distribution and treatment of potable water as well as for the processing of wastewater. The United Nations requires a wide variety of pumps to fulfill these purposes. - Raw water sources include shallow wells and deep boreholes, rivers, streams and lakes, as well as brackish and salty water sources like swamps and salty groundwater. Wastewater includes domestic sewage and sullage from UN military camps. - Wherever applicable and viable, these pumps shall be powered by solar energy in addition to or as an alternative to the UN mission’s existing electrical sources. - The UN intends to develop an in-house pool of highly trained and qualified pump technicians. These technicians, over the term of the contract and beyond, will carry out the requisite services of pump sizing and selection, testing, installation, operation and maintenance, with the aim of optimizing the use of water pumps in the field. To this end, it is planned that a robust training and technical support component will be required throughout the contract period. Note: Full details of the requirement will be included in the solicitation documents. No additional information on the requirements will be provided until the solicitation is issued.
