Description
The Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) with its Headquarters located in Leidschendam, The Netherlands, is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably experienced and capable organisations to register for a tender for the provision of STL Storage Area Network (SAN) including installation as well as related maintenance and support.
Installation:
The winning contractor must deliver, install and configure the system on-site at STL premises in Leidschendam, The Netherlands.
Detailed specifications and requirements will be provided with the solicitation documents.
This EOI does not constitute a solicitation. The STL reserves the right to change or cancel the requirement at any time during the EOI. Please note that responding to the EOI does not guarantee your company will be invited to the forthcoming tender that will be issued.
1.0 Background
1.1 The STL is currently operating Storage Area Network infrastructure based on CX480 platform and Clariion technology. STL SAN platform consist of two EMC/CX480 arrays installed at two location; a) STL HQ office in Leidschendam and b) at disaster recovery site in The Hague
1.2. EMC/CX480- Clariion platform is a central component of STL infrastructure currently hosting virtual platform configuration data and STL documents and archive.
1.3 The overall capacity of the STL Storage Area Network (SAN) is currently about 260 Tera Bytes (TB) hosting active and backup data including critical data sources
1.4 On the background of the announcement made by EMC Corporation in 2011 about the end of life for CX480 platform, STL is reaching out to SAN vendors in a search for technology refresh/ replacement proposals for its existing SAN.
1.5 STL currently has Storage Are Network infrastructure with the following components:
• Two EMC Clariions CX 4-480 systems for the storage of data in a Storage Area Network (SAN) (for a primary 140 TB and secondary location, 120TB each);
• Cisco switching fabric solution MDS 9000 series to connect VMware virtual servers to the SAN
• Emulex HBA’s for fiber interconnection of the 17 servers to the Cisco switches;
• PowerPath software for a Windows environment to manage the SAN
2.0 Scope of work
2.1 This document describes the requirements of the STL for the design, supply, installation, integration, implementation, testing, training and maintenance on a “Turnkey Basis”, of a replacement / upgrades for our existing SAN infrastructure.
2.2 Turnkey basis as used in this request means that there will be no additional requirements on the part of the STL to put into operation the requested SAN system or its ancillary systems.
2.3 The turnkey basis includes storage design of the new system, configuration and installation of the primary rack at STL data center and Secondary rack at STL disaster recovery site in the Hague area, acceptance testing, documentation and training.
2.4 Turnkey basis also means that the proposed solution shall take into account a seamless migration from the old SAN to the new system with a minimum outages and should include data migration, verification and VMWare integration.
2.5 The proposed solution shall come with a minimum disk capacity of 260 TB distrusted between two disk arrays and scalable to a minimum 360 TB. The disk drives shall be Flash, SAS and NL-SAS. Supported protocols shall be Fiber Channel, Fiber Channel over Ethernet and iSCSI
2.6 The proposed solution shall come with a unified management interface and support the following features;
• Data block compression
• File deduplication and compression
• Thing provisioning
• Fully Automated Storage Tiering
• Fully Automated Storage Tiering Cache
• VMWare certified storage with support for VAAI Vstorage APIs for array integration
• Encrypt data where it is created
• Disk-based WORM functionality
• Block storage snaps and clones
• Continuous Data Protection for block storage
• File system snaps
• Remote protection with Unified storage replication
• Integrated WAN deduplication and bandwidth recovery
• Application specific recovery point objectives
• Self service replication
• Application protection with host-based management of array-based copies of data
2.7 The required SAN solution requires to make maximum use of the VMware based Virtual Server environment currently used at the STL IT Services Section (ITSS).
2.8 In addition to the implementation of the project the contractor will also provide for a storage management residency consultant for 65 days in addition to the implementation of the project.
