Tender description: Quotations for Developing Status Report on Cement Industry Sector of Nepal Section II Scheduel of Requirements

• General overview on industry sector with particular focus on cement sector with envisioned role in achieving the national goal of moving towards the status of developing, middle-income and developed country status as well as Net-Zero GHG emission country by 2050 
• Review the GCCA’s 2050 Roadmap for Cement and Concrete for Net-Zero Concrete, GCCA’s Sustainability Guidelines and other relevant regional initiatives taken specially by our neighboring countries to make the cement sector more climate friendly  
• Status on Existing Limestone-Based Cement Manufacturing Industries in Nepal
  • List out the total number of limestone based industries currently in operation in the country with following details:
  • Location of the industry and mining sites (with area covered by the factory and mines)
  • Annual production capacity (licensed, installed, plan for expansion in near future, and any other plan for expansion)
  • Production technology (any plan for change or upgrade the technology in near future)
  • Capacity utilization and details on annual consumption of raw materials and their sources
  • Details on fuel use including use of wastes as fuel in the production process (range of calorific values of the fuels used)
  • Details on use of electricity with details on self-generation if any
  • Pollution control technologies and operational status (air, waste water, noise, hazardous waste, solid waste, domestic solid waste)
  • Mode of transport of limestone from mines to factory site and estimated volume of use of fossil fuel (by trucks, etc) or use of electricity if other than vehicles
  • Any efforts towards becoming carbon neutral (like support in the plantation in the area, use of renewable energy sources within the factory, plantation in the mining area including the surrounding if any, any other measures noteworthy for others to follow)
• Status on Clinker-Based cement industry in Nepal with particular focus on their capacity, capacity utilization, location and energy use and their contribution in the GHG emissions of the sector
• Estimate the GHG emissions (IPCC Guidelines) of each limestone based industry (direct emissions and indirect emissions) on per ton of clinker or cement production and categorize them with their performances, predict the BAU scenario with the projected growth of the sector as per economic development of the country. 
• Evaluate the national policy and legislative framework as compare to global and regional policy/legislative initiatives taken that encourages the industries to move towards GHG mitigation path and recommend the initiatives needed in the national context.
• Present the findings to the Association of Cement Manufacturing Industry members and incorporated their suggestions in the final recommendations.
