Description
The United Nations (UN) has a continued demand for the manufacturing/production and provision of various goods which reflect standard UN branding with the use of the UN emblem and/or official UN color schemes, which are typically sourced via long-term contracts established following competitive procurement exercises and supplied to global UN peacekeeping and special political missions, as well as other global offices. Such goods must comply with visual and design guidelines, as well as production specifications disclosed by the UN under a particular procurement activity. Examples of goods that the UN has previously procured and may require in the future include: • Flags, ranging in size from small military streamers (7cm x 121cm) to large funeral ceremonial flags for draping over caskets (244cm x 366cm); • Military, police, and/or personal wear & uniforms, such as field caps, berets, shoulder patches, brassards, scarves, cloth face masks, badges for affixing on clothing items (berets); and • Military & police helmets The required goods, or parts thereof, have historically been specified to be produced in the UN branded blue color, defined as “Pantone 279U color or equivalent”, however, the UN is currently compiling and standardizing technical and design features of its branding, which may result in a change of the UN blue color reference benchmark to Pantone 2925C. As such, this Request for Information (RFI) is issued to gather information to better understand industry practices, technology, and the methods used by suppliers to match clients’ color specifications and other branding requirements throughout the manufacturing and production processes for goods of various materials. Feedback received and market insight shall be considered to assess the viability of adjusting the UN brand color reference, as well as in defining future requirements to ensure technical, design, and production specifications align with standard market practices. If your company is a supplier of client branded goods similar to the above listed items, you are kindly requested to complete the attached Questionnaire on the practices employed by your company and its subcontractors (if any), and return it to the point of contact indicated above in the RFI. If your company is an authorized dealer or partners with a manufacturer(s), of textiles, fabrics or other branded products, we kindly encourage you to share this RFI with such companies in your supply chains. Respondents to this RFI may submit completed questionnaires on behalf of multiple manufacturers within your network. Please do not include any information on active or recently concluded procurement activities for UN branded goods, under which you may have participated as a bidder. This RFI is for general outreach and market research and does not represent a specific requirement or an actual solicitation for goods at this time. Should an actual requirement materialize, the UN contract shall be advertised and tendered in accordance with the UN’s Financial Regulations, Rules, policies and procedures on procurement and reflected in the UN Procurement Manual (https://www.un.org/Depts/ptd/about-us/procurementmanual).
