UNDP kindly requests your quotation for the provision of goods and services (supply and delivery of food cubes) as detailed in Annex 1 of this RFQ..

The Climate Security in the Pacific Project focuses on empowering low-lying atoll nations, in particular, Tuvalu, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Kiribati to enable them to address the security threats linked to climate change by strengthening the understanding, implementation, and coordination of risk management strategies for key climate-related security risks. The Climate Security in the Pacific Project intends to achieve this through the implementation of a pilot project (demonstration activities) as espoused under Outcome 2 specifically Output 2.3 (activity # 2.3.2). The CSP’s pilot project in Tuvalu will focus on improving local food security on Nui Island by supporting the food cubes gardening initiative. This was an outcome of the wider stakeholder consultations that the project conducted in Tuvalu. Food cubes gardening is considered a climate-resilient farming method, which can help local communities to reduce the negative effects of cyclones and inundation of local food crops that have been predominantly grown in swampy areas. It is also a sustainable farming method that can be easily practised by everyone especially vulnerable groups such as women, girls, the disabled, and youth groups. Food cubes have already been piloted in communities such as Funafuti, Nukufetau and Nukulaelae, which has proven to work and is still working now. The initiative was first introduced to Tuvalu by the Live and Learn Environmental Education Tuvalu. Hence, the implementation of the food cubes gardening initiative will improve local food security on Nui Island.
