Roadmap to Derisking Geothermal Energy Projects in the Philippines

Geothermal is the largest renewable energy source in the Philippines, accounting for 10.6% of electricity generated (2020), and ranking the Philippines as the third-largest producer globally, following Indonesia and USA; however, production has been stagnant for more than 20 years. There is a significant opportunity to expand resource identification and production, and accelerate a just transition to a low-carbon development path.

ADB is seeking a firm (the “Consultant”) to identify, evaluate, and recommend geothermal pre-development stage de-risking strategies to assist the Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) in assessing and prioritizing regulations that can increase geothermal development in the Philippines.
