Description

“Educating” Web Drama

supporting the

School Based Teacher Development Programme

UNRWA hereby requests proposals for the development and launch of an “edutaining” web drama addressing key challenges teachers across the Middle East continue to face. Furthermore, UNRWA seeks a clear and comprehensive dissemination strategy to promote outreach of the drama to the wider online community. This RFP also includes the development of an online platform to carry the outputs produced.

The United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution No. 302 (IV) on 8 December 1949 creating the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in response to the plight of nearly three quarters of a million Palestinians who became refugees in the aftermath of the 1948 Arab-Israeli war.

UNRWA has been delivering education services to Palestine refugee children since 1950, when the Education Programme was established with the support of UNESCO. Currently, basic free education is provided to almost half a million Palestine refugee children in approximately 700 schools across Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, the West Bank and Gaza, with approximately 22,000 educational staff.

A reform strategy is now being undertaken, building upon the strengths of UNRWA’s Education system to continue to provide the best quality education for the Palestine refugee community in line with the highest international standards and best practices around the world. At the heart of the reform is changing the teaching and learning practices in UNRWA schools.
