Description
The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) hereby solicits Expression of Interest (EOI) from competent companies for the requirements stated herein. Description of General Requirements - The works shall consist of but not limited to: • Preparation of the road surface before the dressing works - operation includes cleaning/sweeping, and patching of the potholed surface. • Prepare the surface of the roads, compact loose portions, fill required potholes, and repair the camber wherever required. • Proper compaction of the roads as per required Standards. • Priming of the sub base (untreated) road surface, this includes design, supply, and applying of light fluid cutback bitumen or equivalent materials in order to strengthen the top of the completed sub base road surface and promote adhesion between the sub base and surface dressing. • Surface dressing construction: design, supply, prepare, and apply on site cutback bitumen or AASHTO/BS recognized equivalent as binder for surface dressing. (The binder must be sufficiently fluid at road temperature to wet the road surface and the chippings. At the same time the binder must be sufficiently viscous not to drain off from the road surface and strong enough to retain the chippings when the road is open to traffic). • Design ,supply and apply on site, single-sized, cubical, strong, durable, clean, dust free, with specifications for maximum aggregate crushing value (ACP) typically in the range of 20-35 or BS-minimum polished stone value (PSV) of 45-60 (Chipping size - to range between 6mm,10 and 14mm). • Apply pneumatic rubber-tire roller to set the chippings into the liquid asphalt, to orient the flat sides of the chippings down, to produce a tighter chip seal. (Four or more passes of the roller to set the chippings). • Apply mechanical broom for sweeping at the completion of the surface dressing process to remove surplus chips from the surface. Sweeping is to be done after curing of the surface is completed, and typically again a day or two later.
