Description
The UN Office of Supply Chain Management (OSCM) is developing a sourcing strategy for provision of wastewater-related goods and services for our Department of Operational Support (DOS) supported field offices, and would like to better understand the supply markets and determine the most appropriate framework for the solicitation of these goods and services. The wastewater-related goods and services will serve field offices with typically 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 people. Wastewater sources primarily consist of ablutions (both grey and black water) and other specialized accommodations with specific pretreatment considerations (i.e. grease traps at kitchens and oil/water separators at workshops). The wastewater treatment goods shall be able to operate under diverse climatic conditions (e.g., hot/cold, dry/wet, dusty). They shall have a compact design, and facilitate rapid deployment and installation (e.g., be containerized). The companies are requested to provide information on the following points as part of their response to the RFI by completing the Excel spreadsheet 1. Does your company typically provide the below list of goods? 2. Does your company have ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications (or equivalent)? 3. Does your company provide after-sales support services for: spare parts, training and technical services for commissioning and operation/maintenance purposes? 4. Does your company provide service to take back materials and equipment? 5. Does your company provide leasing services for any of the below list of goods? 6. Does your company provide turnkey services for provision and commissioning of wastewater goods? If so, does your company also provide follow-on operation and maintenance services for the associated wastewater treatment systems? Specific wastewater goods of interest are as follows: Pump Stations A minimum of two pumps shall be provided with duty / standby configuration. Pumps shall have option for in-built grinders. Septic Tanks Tank shall have a two compartment or chamber design and provide a minimum hydraulic retention time of 24 hours. Extended Aeration Activated Sludge Plants Plant shall receive raw blackwater by gravity or through pump station. Pretreatment facilities shall be provided, if needed, to ensure proper plant operation. Treated effluent quality shall meet the following requirements: (1) 5-day Biochemical Oxygen Demand – 30 ppm (2) Total Suspended Solids - 30 ppm Effluent Filtration Systems System shall receive greywater or treated effluent from extended aeration activated sludge plant. Treated effluent quality shall meet the following requirements: (1) Turbidity – 2 NTU With disinfection using chlorine, treated effluent quality shall meet the following additional requirements: (1) Fecal Coliforms - less than 1/100 ml (2) Free Chlorine - 0.5 to 1 mg/l at point of use Membrane Bioreactor Plants Plant shall receive raw blackwater by gravity or through pump station. Pretreatment facilities shall be provided, if needed, to ensure proper plant operation. Treated effluent quality shall meet the following requirements: (1) 5-day Biochemical Oxygen Demand – 30 ppm (2) Total Suspended Solids - 30 ppm (3) Turbidity – 2 NTU With disinfection using chlorine, treated effluent quality shall meet the following additional requirements: (1) Fecal Coliforms - less than 1/100 ml (2) Free Chlorine - 0.5 to 1 mg/l at point of use Disinfection Systems System shall disinfect treated effluent from effluent filtration system or membrane bioreactor plant. With disinfection using chlorine, treated effluent quality shall meet the following requirements: (1) Fecal Coliforms - less than 1/100 ml (2) Free Chlorine - 0.5 to 1 mg/l at point of use Sludge Dewatering Units Unit shall receive septage from septic tank, or sludge from extended aeration activated sludge plant or membrane bioreactor plant. Unit shall increase solid content of septage or sludge to at least 40 percent. Infiltration / Leaching Systems System shall facilitate sub-surface treatment/disposal of septic tank effluent or greywater. System shall be modular and include leaching chambers or perforated pipes. Pre-treatment Assets Assets shall include prefabricated grease traps and prefabricated oil-water separators. - Grease traps shall be used for pretreatment of greywater generated from commercial kitchens. - Oil-water separators shall be used for pretreatment at transport workshops and diesel power generation retention basins before discharge into storm drainage system. Portable Analytical Laboratories Portable laboratory shall provide water quality data for critical plant process monitoring and to verify treated effluent quality requirements specified for membrane bioreactor plants. Services are expected to include take-back schemes for expired and used reagents.
