Description
UNOG is seeking to issue an institutional contract for the preparation, the organization and the conduct of the 53rd session of the International Law Seminar (ILS), to be held in Geneva from 3 to 21 July 2017. The ILS is organized every year as part of the International Law Commission and is intended to enable students at the postgraduate level or young university teachers and lawyers specialized in international law to widen their knowledge of both the work of the International Law Commission and of the codification and development of international law. The ILS provides an opportunity for lawyers representing different legal systems and cultures to engage in an exchange of views regarding items on the Commission’s agenda. Participants have the possibility to familiarize themselves with the work of the Commission and the activities of international organizations in Geneva. This assignment requires the expertise of an institution: • with specialized knowledge of public international law issues and challenges; • with specialized knowledge of the work and challenges of the International Law Commission; • networking within the International Geneva; • with the capability to lobby and to mobilize the availability of members of the International Law Commission, legal advisers of Geneva-based international organizations and Geneva-based professors of international law and international institutional law to deliver lectures to participants and to moderate the working groups of the Seminar. In its sole discretion, UNOG reserves the right to issue a long-term agreement for the provision of the above service.
