Description

Within the overall framework of the AWEE programme and in partnership with the Vocational and Skills Development Centre (VSDTC), UN Women has supported excluded women with demand-driven targeted vocational and skills development training in three districts—Kailali, Kavre and Sunsari—through the AWEE programme. As the follow-up of the vocational skills and entrepreneurship development training to be provided by the VSDTC, UN Women plans to provide business start-up support or job placement support to selected training graduates as per needs and interests of respective individuals. In order to ensure the sustainability of the support, business start-up support will be combined with business development services (BDS)[1], while job placement support will be combined with further support for technical skills development.

Overall objective of this intervention is to support up to 2,000 excluded women[2] who received vocational skills and entrepreneurship development training by the Vocational and Skills Development Centre (VSDTC) with (1) business start-up support and business development services (BDS) or (2) job placement support and further development of technical skills for their improved and sustainable livelihoods.

The specific objectives are as follows:

  • To identify needs of up to 2,000 exclude women who graduated the VSDTC training for business start-up or job placement.
  • To provide a post-training follow-up support package to up to 2,000 excluded women after the VSDTC training, depending on respective needs and interests. The training graduates will be requested to select one of the following two packages: (1) business start-up and BDS or (2) job placement support and further skills development.
  • To facilitate a linkage between up to 2,000 excluded women and the locally available business development resources, the markets and job opportunities.
